I’m honored to be featured in a new article by Chris Caggiano for Leading Estates of the World, “Malibu, Quietly: Life Inside California’s Most Famous Coastline.” Having lived and sold here since 1997, I was glad to talk about the Malibu I know, which is a lot more relaxed than the one most people imagine.

People often expect movie stars and guarded compounds. What I see every day is a close-knit community where neighbors run into each other at the coffee counter, surf and tennis shape the weekends, and the luxury is quiet rather than showy. We talked about how each part of the coast has its own personality, why Malibu doesn’t really have “neighborhoods” in the usual sense, and how buyers’ priorities are shifting toward homes with room to entertain and host guests.

In nearly three decades, what draws people here hasn’t changed: the beaches, the privacy when you want it, and a community that’s there when you don’t.
